Energy dissipation modeling of lossy transmission lines driven by CMOS inverters
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, new formulations for the energy dissipation of lossy transmission lines driven by CMOS inverters are provided. These formulations are obtained using an approximated expression for the driving-point impedance of lossy coupled transmission lines which itself is derived by solving Telegrapher’s equations. A comprehensive analysis of energy is performed for both step and flattened ramp inverter inputs. To accomplish this task, a new stable circuit that is capable of modeling the transmission line for a broad range of frequencies is synthesized. Experimental results show that the energy calculated using this equivalent circuit is almost equal to the one calculated by solving the more complicated transmission line equations directly.

In this paper, the ways to improve the functionality and reliability of Digital Signal Processors, used to support optical networks, have been studied. Specifically, supported on our finding from previous experimental studies that on-die global interconnects should be described by a distributed RLC model, we propose to model shielded lines, carrying the most critical signals, by a Lossy Transmi...
متن کاملA bus energy model for deep submicron technology
In this paper we present a comprehensive mathematical analysis of the energy dissipated in deep sub-micron (DSM) buses. The estimation is based on an elaborate bus model that includes all the distributed and lumped parasitic elements that appear as technology scales. The energy drawn from the power supply during the transition of the bus is evaluated in a compact closed form. The notion of acti...
متن کاملFully Distributed Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of an Improved Non-Uniform Traveling Wave Structure
Modeling and simulation of communication circuits at high frequency are important challenges ahead in the design and construction of these circuits. Knowing the fact that the lumped element model is not valid at high frequency, distributed analysis is presented based on active and passive transmission lines theory. In this paper, a lossy transmission line model of traveling wave switch (TWSW) i...
